University Park grew up around Southern Methodist University and still takes its shape from it. Snider Plaza is the neighbourhood shopping row, the campus sits at the eastern edge, and University Heights and Caruth Hills hold the residential streets — where an original 1920s or 1930s cottage frequently stands next door to a four- or five-bedroom rebuild on the same lot width.
