Waxahachie has one of the largest collections of Victorian housing in Texas, and it is concentrated within walking distance of the granite courthouse on the square — gingerbread trim, wraparound porches, turned porch posts and steep gables, street after street of it. Ferris Heights and the streets around the historic district hold most of the period stock; Buffalo Creek and Garden Valley are where the newer subdivision building has gone, out toward Interstate 35E.
